Xmm – newton AO - 1 observations of three SHARC galaxy clusters

چکیده
We present the follow-up of three medium redshift galaxy clusters from the SHARC survey observed with Xmm–newton. We studied RX J0256.5+0006 which shows two components which are very likely in interaction. The smallest component exhibits a comet-like structure indicating ram pressure stripping as it falls onto the main cluster. The second cluster, RX J2237.0-1516 is an elliptical cluster with a gas temperature of 3.0±0.5 keV. The third cluster, RX J1200.8-0328 seems to be in a relaxed state because its shape is regular and we do not see obvious temperature gradient. Its mean temperature is 5.1

The XMM – NEWTON Project : I . The X - ray Luminosity – Temperature
We describe XMM-Newton Guaranteed Time observations of a sample of eight high redshift (0.45<z<0.62) clusters. The goal of these observations was to measure the luminosity and the temperature of the clusters to a precision of ∼10%, leading to constraints on the possible evolution of the luminosity–temperature (Lx − Tx) relation, and ultimately on the values of the matter density, ΩM, and, to a ...

XMM-Newton, with its high throughput and excellent spatial and spectral resolution, is an ideal instrument for spectro-imaging observations of clusters. Presented here is an XMM-Newton mosaic observation of A2163, from which a new radial temperature profile is derived. The issue of background subtraction is addressed in some detail as a proper treatment of the background is essential for the de...
متن کاملAbundance Constraints and Direct Redshift Measurement of the Diffuse X-ray Emission from a Distant Cluster of Galaxies
We report on the XMM-Newton (XMM) observation of RXJ1053.7+5735, one of the most distant X-ray selected clusters of galaxies, which also shows an unusual double-lobed X-ray morphology, indicative of a possible equal-mass cluster merger. The cluster was discovered during the ROSAT deep pointings in the direction of the Lockman Hole. All XMM Lockman Hole observations (PV, AO-1 & AO-2 phases) with...
متن کاملTesting the galaxy cluster mass - observable relations at z = 1 with XMM - Newton and Chandra observations of XLSSJ 022403 . 9 - 041328 ⋆
We present an analysis of deep XMM-Newton and Chandra observations of the z = 1.05 galaxy cluster XLSSJ022403.9-041328 (hereafter XLSSC 029), detected in the XMM-Newton large scale structure survey. Density and temperature profiles of the X-ray emitting gas were used to perform a hydrostatic mass analysis of the system. This allowed us to measure the total mass and gas fraction in the cluster a...
